Litigation Secretary (Tempoaray- Maternity Leave Coverage)

Location: East Bay Area, CA
Work Arrangement: On Site
Duration: 3-6 month contract

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Litigation Secretary to provide temporary support during a maternity leave. This role supports litigation attorneys with daily administrative and case-related tasks and requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with California and federal court procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, format, proofread, and file litigation documents including pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence
E-file documents in state and federal courts (including California courts)
Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including court deadlines, hearings, and depositions
Coordinate filings, service of process, and manage case binders and records
Assist with trial preparation, document management, and exhibit preparation
Handle time entry, expense reports, and billing-related tasks as needed
Communicate professionally with courts, clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams
Provide general administrative support to litigation attorneys as required

Qualifications

Prior experience as a litigation secretary or legal assistant in a law firm environment
Strong knowledge of litigation procedures and court rules (California and federal preferred)
Proficiency with legal document formatting and e-filing systems
Experience managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent organizational, communication, and proofreading skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and legal document management systems

Additional Details

Contract role covering a maternity leave (3-6 months)
Hybrid schedule with four days per week in the San Francisco office
